DEBATES ON SUSTAINABLE FINANCE
The
month of April 2020 ended with the beginning of a very interesting
initiative: a Brazilian group of discussion and theoretical and
practical studies around the theme of sustainable finance. The group,
multidisciplinary in nature, involves professors, researchers and
undergraduate, master's and doctoral students, with accumulated
experience in academia and in practice. Representatives of several
institutions are already participating, such as the Federal University
of Bahia / UFBA (Schools of Administration, Accounting and Economics);
Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia (IFBA);
Federal University of Sergipe (UFS); Brazilian researchers currently
linked to the University of Roehampton (United Kingdom) and the
University of Montreal; Brazilian Research Group on Governance for
Sustainability and the Carbon Market (GpS), with its Climate Finance
subgroup; and Labfinvas-Laboratory for Research in Finance, Asset
Valuation and Sustainability.
On
April 30, the group's first meeting took place via the Zoom platform,
which lasted 3 hours of excellent discussion on "THE NEXT GREAT CRISIS:
potential economic and financial impacts of socio-environmental risks".
The event opened with a presentation made by the PhD candidate Viviane
Helena Torinelli, from the Postgraduate Center for Administration (NPGA)
at UFBA, followed by a debate. A new debate agenda has already been
built and the group's next meetings to debate specific research will
take place on May 14, June 4, June 23 and July 9, 2020, all via the Zoom
platform.
On May 28 the
group's first Sustainable Finance Webinar will take place. The event
will cover the theory and practice of socio-environmental risks and
innovation opportunities associated with Sustainable Finance. It will be
addressing responsible investment, paying attention to ESG
(Environmental, Social and Governance factors). The event will count
with two panelists and a round table for debates! Unfortunately, this
first webinar will be only in Portuguese, but English language may be
considered for the next ones. Register through the link below to receive
